Time for a Stretch

The Green Heron is one of the few birds that uses "tools" to catch their food. Green Herons will use bread crumbs or bugs as bait to attract fish for a tasty meal. They also have the unique ability to stretch their necks to more than double their body size.

I'm illustrating one right now as a second final illustration for Scientific Illustration but wanted to share a photo and some information on the birds between painting in the feather layers.
